Adolfo Siurana studied sculpture in Valencia and Halle/Saale. He has won a number of awards and bursaries, including the City of Valencia Biennale Prize, the City of Mainz Art Prize and an Erasmus bursary. He has completed projects in public settings.

Adolfo Siurana is a sculptor working mainly with fragile materials such as glass, wax, porcelain or soap. A recurrent theme of his work is the form of the human body. His creations can be reproduced in series. He then arranges the identical copies, either spread out in formation or in block-like units. What matters about the physical proportions of his figures is that they are deliberately unnatural. Siurana takes reduction in size to an extreme, toying with his figures rather than reflecting reality. None of his figures have specific characteristics or individual features. Indeed, it is rare for the sex of these sensitive beings to be apparent. Frail materialisations, they adapt to spaces and thus make space of their own. (Dr. Ralf F. Hartmann)

"My interest as a sculptor is in form and space – especially empty space. I work on the relations between form, space and human beings. An empty space is capable of eliciting dialogue because it is not really empty. We just classify it as empty and, in doing so, give definite outlines to what was previously absent.
