AMPARO CARBONELL TATAY
Valencia, 1955. Professor at the Department of Sculpture at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Member of Laboratorio de Luz. She is not only devoted to teaching and researching sculpture, but has also been concerned for many years about the effect that the social scope of all the artistic proposals can have on culture, as a forming and transforming agent. For this very reason she has held several management positions at the university, all of them being directly related to the dynamization and promotion of culture: Vice-Dean of Culture at the Faculty of Fine Art, Director of Culture and Vice-Rector of Culture at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. She established and managed until 2007 the Polytechnic University of Valencia radio and television channel. Her concern to upgrade and strengthen the relationship between contemporary art and society, in real time, has brought her into collaboration with different organizations, both public and private, in the organization of cultural events. She has belonged to the Patronato of the Valencian Museum of Fine Art for three years and is presently a member of the Advisory Committee attached to the Espai d’Art of the CAM in Valencia.
since 1980 As a sculptor, since 1980 she has shown her work in numerous individual and collective exhibitions: Ferias Internacionales de Arte (FIAC), Eiffel Tower (Paris), Southampton Institute, Museum of Modern Art (Tarragona), Torres García Museum (Montevideo, Uruguay). Her work forms part of the permanent exhibitions in the Salvador Allende Museum (Chile), Valls Museum (Tarragona), Generalitat Valenciana [Valencian Regional Government], Polytechnic University of Valencia Contemporary Art Funds, Consejería de Cultura in Murcia, Torres García Museum (Montevideo, Uruguay), the Villafamés Contemporary Art Museum (Castellón), IVAM (Valencian Institute of Modern Art), and it also forms part of private European and American collections.
