Reality? Illusion? - Longing and transience
I take photographs of landscapes and develop them on black-and-white paper. After that I transform the photos with colored sewing, scraping, grinding or shaving.
The requirement of reality reference during the action of taking photographs mediates the image as an effective reality. The photographed landscape plays with the relationships to reality of the analog photography.
Sewing on an analog photo, I ad thread structures, color lines and color areas which in the optical perception the image area fills synthetically.
From a distance the viewer gets the impression again to stay opposite a photo-realistic landscape. Only at a closer look the viewer will be surprised at the illusion.
The shaping transforms the landscape into a "real image of fiction".
