Biography: 
1937 Born in Paris (FR)
He started to develop in the seventies an interest in film, photography, painting, drawing and three-dimensional works. His first personal exhibition was held at the Städtische Kunstsammlungen in Ludwigshafen in 1970 and two years later at Sonnabend Gallery in Paris.
Jean-Pierre Bertrand was representing France at the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999. His work has been also shown in such prestigious institutions as Centre Pompidou (National museum of modern art) in Paris, the Carré d´art / Museum of contemporary art in Nîmes, Museo d´arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato, and Documenta IX in Kassel.
