Biography: 
1893 Born in Brussel (BE)
Raoul Hynckes attended the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and Mechelen and came to The Netherlands in 1914. He originally painted in an impressionistic style, but came under the influence of the Cubism of Picasso and Braque after 1924. From 1933 onwards he painted his famous magic realist still lifes with monochrome colours. In the last years of his life Hynckes specialized in painting landscapes using much lighter colours.
