On May 24, the Preview Room of Vartai Gallery will introduce the work of the painter Adomas Danusevičius. The canvases of the young artist impressed the audiences with the topic of queers (especially in the series Chimney (Kaminas)) which is extremely rare in Lithuanian art. The artist reflects on the issues of homosexuality and the feelings of another in the modern society which is cosmopolitan but nevertheless chained by the traditional perception of identities. Visually light and hedonistic works build dialogue with various philosophical theories, studies of masculism and even fairy tales that are actualising the archetypes of masculinity (e.g., the book Iron John by Robert Bly (based on a tale by the Brothers Grimm) which highlights the role of the teacher, mentor and the laws of human civilisation in the process of a boy becoming a man). Bold, sensitive, intuitive work is a provocation communicating social angles through personal perspective as well as by speaking out on common human issues.
