ALEKSANDAR JESTROVIĆ - JAMESDIN
WHO IS SCREWING WHO?
17. 12. 2010 - 17.1. 2011
The painter and performer currently living and working in Belgrade and Berlin responded to the question as to why does he use sex as a dominant expressive theme in his artwork with the following words:
"Some are good at writing, others at sculpting, some again at painting or taking photographs, … However, we all have in common that we do not need previous knowledge in order to fuck, even through art. Sex is a basic performative act that everyone is familiar with, and through this act power is manifested - personal, economic and political. Thus the question: "Who are we screwing and who is screwing us?" is always applicable. The Ra?ka gallery will present works that treat contemporary artistic and socio-political themes through sexual practices.
