An Imaginary Party, is a group show where a total of 46 artists have been "invited" to participate, national as well as international, and all of them connected to the gallery in one way or another. Their contexts, ages, type of work, country of origin, etc. are all very different and varied, and they show us an infinite range of possibilities which suggests generational contacts and influences and at the same time presents a coexistence of friction, but above all emphasizes a genre and basic method, that has lasted in time, the works on paper.
Among the latest practices of contemporary art, it is indisputable that paper has gained greater importance which has also amplified its use, not only for sketches or more conceptual ideas, but also in a more pictorial use, plastic or even sculptural. The selected pieces, stimulate our senses towards an amplified and versatile concept of the idea of drawing.
You can find narrative and figurative works, sketches and preliminary drawings, works generated from pictorial approaches, abstract work, drawings in color or without it, multiple, tests, linear drawings, works totally completed and refined, which are without doubt those that introduces the concept "work on paper", unpublished work, etc.
Their influences and references are as varied as their origins. They are nourished by popular sources, from material of massive diffusion as fashion magazines and images from the press, from underage subculture, from Art history references, from autobiography, from social moments, existential or poetic situations…
The title of the show, An Imaginari Party, is a reference to the utopia of a plural encounter, chaotic but in perfect coexistence and respect, which we hope will provoke interesting collisions and above all a vital crossword.
