Brussels, being the capital of Europe, became one of the central meeting places on the international art scene. Every year, artbrussels prepares itself to welcome more than 32.000 professionals, collectors and art lovers both from Belgium and abroad and this in the intimate and cosy atmosphere that has become artbrussels' trademark. During the fair, the visitors will be able to view at their leisure the best and most interesting of contemporary art.
"One man shows"
The programme of “one man shows” guarantees to reflect the innovative nature of the fair. A maximum of 20 projects from established or young galleries will be selected to exemplify the most recent developments in contemporary art. A part of the fair that is of particular interest to art collectors, museums and the press.
In 2005 artbrussels creates a special opportunity for outstanding creative talent, by dedicating a special space to rising stars in the new space “First Call”. “First Call” will be positioned as one of the special attractions in the fair. The “First Call” island will surround the illy lounge, one of the central meeting points in artbrussels. Through the financial support of our sponsors, 14 selected galleries will be able to participate in the fair at an exceptional “starters rate”.
Participation in “First Call” is on invitation only and addresses galleries with an outstanding contemporary programme who did not participate recently in artbrussels.
In 2004, artbrussels introduced in premiere the artbrussels Collectors Committee. In addition to their advisory function, the members of this committee are given the task of selecting the best “one man show”. The winner is awarded with a 10.000€ cheque presented by illy.
In 2005, the Collectors Committee invites 14 galleries with an outstanding contemporary programme to participate in the new "First Call" space.

A special section in the fair developed for companies interested in contemporary art. The Company Club offers the opportunity to organise PR-actions, receptions or guided tours for personnel or clients. The objective of this project is to motivate companies to support contemporary art and at the same time to enhance the visibility of contemporary art with a greater public.
