AWAS! RECENT ART FROM INDONESIA presents 14 young artists with a wide spectrum of artifical genres like painting, installation, photography, video and performance. In the focus is an artistgeneration, which reflect critically and playful the society and political transformation-process in Indonesia since the 90s infront of the background of a postcolonial situation as well as an Islamic culture.

RECENT ART FROM INDONESIA is an international exhibitionproject, organized by the CEMETI ART FOUNDATIONWALTER SPIES GESELLSCHAFT DEUTSCHLAND e.V. accompanies the project in Europe in collaboration with the FORUM LUDWIG FOR INTERNATIONAL ART Aachen, the PRUESS & OCHS GALLERY /ASIAN FINE ARTS BERLIN and the curator Alexandra Kuss, Cologne.
