Bent Holstein, "Baha Mar", 2007, oil on canvas, 120 x 160 cm
11 October - 11 November 2007
The title of Bent Holstein's exhibition means "the shallow sea" and refers to the shallow waters of the Mexican Gulf and The Caribbean Sea.
For the past 10 years the extraordinary light and colours of these maritime landscapes have served as inspiration to the Danish artist Bent Holstein who presents new paintings from "Baha Mar" based on his many travels to places like The Bahamas, Honduras, Belize, Florida Keys in USA and Yucatán, Mexico.
In 2005 Galerie Asbæk presented works by Bent Holstein in the Danish project gallery in New York, DCA Gallery. Spring 2007 he exhibited in the Chinese Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen and later on with B&O in Hong Kong.
