....In 1990, the performance and fashion artist Aleksandr Petljura, who hung around in the moscow underground, searched for an adequate object for artistic house-occupation in the centre of Moscow. He organised in Bronja's house, who was then a 66-year-old retiree, one of the most fascinating commune of artists of the town, a sort of Moscow "factory". And Pani Bronja, whose previous life was mainly a welfare case, advanced to a celebrated performance artist and model and created an extensive graphic work until her death in 2004.
Dubner developed an artistic handwriting in her drawings with a high potential of recognition: naiv and refreshing graphic portraits, decorated with small details like florets, sometimes with monochrome colour-areas, titled such as "This is the little prince" or "This is a clown from Paris". At first Bronja dealt with the death of her husband Vladimir Abramovič in her works, later she produced large series and referenced her everyday life. In her 14 years as artist it was generated a work of 500 pieces.... |
