OPENING FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 6 - 9 pm
“Creative Destruction” at Galerie KUNSTAGENTEN is not about the disintegration of forms within the photographic medium, but rather, how new experiences arise in the work once our normal expectations are altered through an artist’s drastically modified vision.
This manual act of revision manifests as making in the work of Abigail Reynolds, as she folds different spaces of time, yet of the same place, into and through each other. Her subtle alterations constantly redefine the relation of time and space, which ultimately depends on the viewer’s presence to evoke the experience. Jeremy Kost’s work also relies on a viewer’s preconceived notions in order to radically fracture one’s common relationship with decadent glamour. The paradox of the subtle insecurities Kost’s portraits of extreme extroverts reveal is echoed by the complex, chaotic structure of his polaroid collages in which glamour mingles with reality. By verging on the absurd, standard beauty is transformed again when photographer Damien Blottière’s concepts meet Icelandic fashion designer, Bóas Kristjánsson, in his bold "8045" line. |
