Plegaria Muda is Doris Salcedo's (b. 1958) new work, after having cracked the floor of Tate Modern in London, the Colombian artist will transform the CAM's hall into a kind of hybrid forest-cemetery. It consists of one-hundred and sixty-two sculptures that create a non-linear trajectory, with clearings in one place and impassable in another, simultaneously suffocating and unconstraint, but never permitting indifference.
Doris Salcedo's exhibition, an artist presented for the first time in Portugal, is commissioned by the Centro de Arte Moderna from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and by the Moderna Museet Malmö, having been produced in partnership with the MUAC - Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico City; the MAXXI - Museo Nazionale della Arte del XXI Secolo, Rome, and the Pinacoteca of the State of São Paulo.
