Fernanda Fragateiro, General installation view of Conteúdo desconhecido, 2009, Sculptures in stainless steel
© Miguel Ângelo Guerreiro | | |
The artist presents an installation of sculptures made of steel. The sculptures occupy the floor of the gallery creating like this an apparently involuntary passage way. Obstructing and opening at the same time the passage for the visitors and spectators of the exhibition, we are able to explore the objects as well as the space around them.
The title of this show is inspired by a text of Andrew Renton about the lost bag of Walter Benjamin, written in 1993. This text elaborates the idea of the lost object, used as a conceptual starting point for this exposition. The observers don't have the chance of knowing what the original content of the boxes was. Thus, the boxes are transformed into content themselves, becoming the principal subject of our contemplation.
