“SILENT VOICES” IN SINGLE-EVENING PRESENTATION OF ART AND PERFORMANCE BY GITA MEH AT CARBON 12 GALLERY


Dubai-based Iranian artist Gita Meh, in association with Carbon 12 Gallery, presents a performative installation, Silent Voices,including movement, poetry, and a single large two-panel painting. The one-evening exhibition takes place on Wednesday, 24 June 2009, between 20:00 and 22:00, at Carbon 12 Dubai, Dubai Marina, Marina View Towers.


Gita Meh's unique mixed-media performances, paintings, and poems have been helping to define a new paradigm for art in the Middle East, and specifically in the UAE. Just as her painting and drawing assume an almost theatrical presence, Meh's performances and installative works have a strong visual impact, focusing on current topics and contemporary thought. Silent Voices will be no exception: be sure not to miss this crucial landmark in Dubai's emerging art history.
