The Nuble gallery opens the season with GROWING TOGETHER, an exhibition that also serves as a celebration of the first five years of the gallery.
To that end, the artists were invited to create a specific work around the idea of growing in a group. Each artist received a plant; the selected species was Ligustrum Vulgare. This is a widely spread plant that is commonly grouped in rows to form dense walls or hedges, or shapes in gardens. It flourishes during some periods of the year, showing a spectacular display of very aromatic flowers.
Just as the plant grows and nourishes according to environmental circumstance, Nuble has developed through the union and the contributions of different people and their energy.
GROWING TOGETHER gathers a group of artists currently linked to the gallery, but the exhibition also represents all of the artists who have been part of the Nuble project during all these years.
The plant, as a symbol and as an object, was the starting point for the varied proposals that are part of this show and in which both the plants and the works it generated will be present.
Faithful to its general lines of work, this project has represented a challenge both to the very gallery as to the involved artists. Issues such as risk, chance, levels of relationship with nature, capacity to boost group ideas, etc. has been some of the central themes that has come up during this process, in order to offer a multiple vision of an experience of growth and development.
The exhibition has generated 21 works of different types and involving different disciplines such as painting, video, drawing, installation, sculpture and photography, which also reflect the different kinds of projects created by the gallery during all this time.
