Press Release -- Gwenn Thomas: New Works and Zheng Xuewu: Ink Constructs, April 28 - May 28, 2005
April 28, 2005

Art Projects International is pleased to announce two exhibitions

ZHENG XUEWU: Ink Constructs

April 28 - May 28, 2005

Art Projects International
429 Greenwich Street, Suite 5B, New York, NY 10013

Gwenn Thomas' unconventional, multi-media works are unified by their intelligent experimentation and refinement. The exhibition New Works features Thomas' signature digital prints on canvas; among them a large triptych depicting Thomas' eye catching and sophisticated orchestration of numerous cut rectangles of colored cloth. In addition to other works on canvas Thomas' recent series of abstract forms and marks on paper-created by hands-on manipulation of printing plates and unique prints-are on view. They further reveal Thomas' masterful control of color and the vitality of her unique aesthetic and approach.

ZHENG XUEWU: Ink Constructs
In his first New York exhibition, Beijing based artist Zheng Xuewu exhibits large, striking, labor-intensive works on paper. On a single work's surfaces, on a colored ground, Zheng will make thousands of prints from woodblocks he has carved, cast metal printing type, stamps and other found objects; he finishes the work by painting into it by hand. Zheng's unusual and harmonious amalgamation of techniques as well as his highly individual aesthetic result in immediate, engaging work. Art Projects international is pleased to bring to New York an exceptional artist already widely exhibited and well known in China.
