Habeas Corpus
Paintings and Drawings
By Rhiannon Aarons
After Brooke Lydecker a young photographer from San Francisco, who joined the International Pool of Artists represented by OMC in 2001, the OMC Team is proud to present now Rhiannon Aarons, a young Californian painter with her first Solo Exhibition.
Rhiannon Aarons has practiced drawing and painting throughout the entirety of her Southern California life. She has dedicated the last decade to creating unique and unusual experiences and objects, and in 2004 graduated from Otis College of Art and Design with a BFA in painting. Art history, Mythology, Witchcraft, Fantasy, Surrealism, unsolved Murders, Hollywood and the Macabre inform and fuel her work. Aarons lives and works in Los Angeles.
Artist Statement:
As a body of work (all puns intended), Habeas Corpus seeks to interrogate the role of the mythological human body in historical painting. Using a combination of new technology and Classical painting techniques, these paintings and drawings were created to tell the imagined stories of the macabre happenings that occurred "between the lines" of popular historical painting narratives. |
