Hans Staudacher belongs to the generation that tried to give a completely new and radical definition to the position of art after the end of World War II, after the cultural drainage during NS times. Hans Staudacher is regarded as the Austrian representative of a development in international art, which set in at the same time throughout Europe and in America. Tachism, lyric abstraction, abstract expressionism, action painting – George Mathieu, the Frenchman, got the name Lyrical Informel accepted for this style in art.
