CCA Andratx cordially invites you to the opening next Thursday April, 3rd at 7pm at CCA Espai
The CCA Andratx is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Mallorca by Spanish artist Joan Salo Armengol (Barcelona, 1983). In "Quidquid latine dictum est, altum videtur" a selection of his latest works created between 2013 and 2014 in medium and large format are presented.
Despite his youth, Joan Salo's work presents a very personal and recognized formal language. His colourful canvases, are configured through very precise, almost obsessive, strokes, made with color pens. They repeat to infinity vertical lines constructing patterns, which refer the textile prints yarns or encoded video channels.
His working method, handcafted, hand and brain work together mechanically creating networks of primary forms repeated infinitely and introducing a new dimension in the work, the passing time.
Joan Saló lives and works between Barcelona and Berlin. He graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona in 2006. His work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. These include: Radiance, N2 Gallery, Barcelona (solo, 2013); Carmichael Gallery, New York; Surf, The White Gallery, Milan and The Stream of no unconciousness at the Pavillion Kreuzberg, Berlin (2012).
