Kamp Class
1974 - 2006 Kunstakademie Düsseldorf
Alongside her artistic activities, the sculptress Irmin Kamp has been working dedicatedly as professor at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf for thirty-three years now. Around 160 students passed through the "Kamp Class" during her time. The exhibition provides a multi-facetted survey of the diversity as well as recurring parallels in the predominantly sculptural positions to emerge from the "Kamp Class". Including more than 30 artistic positions, the exhibition presents the international significance of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf by displaying the story of one of its most continuously working classes. At the same time the exhibition demonstrates the close and fruitful connection between the Kunsthalle and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Many of the former Kamp scholars are now acting in the international contemporary art scene showing their work at Venice Biennial and at documenta. The exhibition presents new artworks especially conceived for the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf to be on show for the first time. |
