LOOP'12 has the wind on its sails.
Barcelona’s contemporary art fair, LOOP is a platform for the discovery of artists’ moving image projects presented by their galleries, and an international meeting
point for community-making, debate and commercialization around the medium. In
a singular setting and the strong emphasis on the presentation of premières, the
event provides the ideal space and conditions to engage with the work and
Celebrating its 10th edition, it has proven to be the easiest and most efficient event
to promote video art projects within a tightly focused audience.
LOOP ’12 will present 46 international galleries strictly invited on the basis of
their close commitment to video artists by the LOOP Committee. This year they
have gather the largest and most exciting list of exhibitors, presenting 44 recent
video works and over 23 world premières.
We are very proud to announce the first Curated Section in LOOP by Brazilian
curator and editor Paula Alzugaray, which offers an overview of Latin
American artists reflecting on the intimate relations between affectivity and
LOOP distinguishes the most outstanding piece and gallery proposal of each
edition with the LOOP Awards. We are happy to announce that this year’s LOOP
Jury will be formed by Bartomeu Marí (Director at MACBA, Barcelona), Mark
Nash (Independent critic and curator), and James Lingwood (Director at Artangel).
Parallel to the LOOP Fair, will take place a Forum Pro + Artists’ Film Pitch entitled What About Production?: a 4-days gathering of top professionals round
tables and the first artists projects’ pitch, aimed at tackling collectively the present issues and future concerns regarding artists’ film and video.
