Modern Artists Gallery is proud and delighted to announce a Mixed Exhibition for January 2007, including new works by Anita Austwick, Lucy Orchard, Mark Halsey & other stirring new talents:

Anita Austwick
has the ability to capture the lurid scenes of everyday city life. This recent series consists of 35 new works featuring New York, London and Venice This exhibition 'builds' upon Anita Austwick's previous series in December 2001, which contrasted London and New York. This new series of work results in a renewal of those vibrant colours, the bright blues and rampant reds of yesteryear plus the ever so slightly muted views of Venice with its pinks and softer blue hues.

Lucy Orchard, who's subtle wallpapers, decorative plates and ornaments become host to a myriad of idiosyncratic cartoon-like images, and an abundance of satire.
Light-hearted tales sit side by side with the sinister, murder weapons, which lie around every corner and where deadly plagues are rife.
Black comedy reigns exalted.

Mark Halsey's paintings that refer to the human form, and reach beyond the boundaries of literal art. Spontaneous splashes of paint and earthy hues throw celestial light across a fusion of the figure and landscape. A strong use of light and colour is used to enhance a powerful physical presence.

Justine Holt The thoughtful element of gardening idealization and the dreamed garden forms are the basis for this artist's inspiration.
Working from architectural herbaceous plants and shapes found in the garden, Holt aims to make paintings that combine simple composition with a strong sense of design and colour.

Paul Wright and his popular portrait of 'Ian' was accepted for the National Gallery BP Portrait Award 2006. This annual BP Portrait Award showcases the very best in contemporary portrait paintings anywhere in the world. The Award encourages artists to focus upon, and develop the theme of portraiture within their work. Wright will also soon be appearing on BBC' T.V's 'Celebrity Portraits' presented by Rolf Harris in February this year.

Other artists currently showing in January's mixed show are Penny Warden, Gregorz Lerka, Paul Kessling - To find out more about the high standard of work on show at the gallery visit: www.modernartistsgallery.com
