Stalke Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition 09-11 is a survey into Nikolaj Recke's photo works for the past two years, often is Nikolaj Recke's photographic work a further elaboration of ideas which have first been tested in videos and installations. The motifs in Nikolaj Recke's photos are recognizable spaces, such as landscapes and night skies, but with a twist of aesthetic involving self-irony, political consciousness and a romantic feeling for beauty.
Nikolaj Recke's works are an extension of 1990s rediscovery of Conceptual art. Unlike our usual perception of conceptual art, Nikolaj Recke´s conceptual art is not just a question of what art is, rather, it is a question of whether or not art can be used, but to investigate whether art can be used to ask questions to the world with all the uncertainties and perspectives that it involves.
The exhibition presenting a view both his current work as well as his previous achievement. And there is a suggestion of what his future endeavors will be.
