Paul Kranzler - New Crew
Vernissage: Thursday, 6th November 2008, 7.30 p.m.
New crew - In 2007, Paul Kranzler took photos of young people in poses of their own in the Upper Austrian countryside - he in fact gave them the title "Poses". His models called themselves member of the New Crew, which took over the entire village. Besides these photos, the exhibition is showing portraits and views from England and the USA 2007-2008, where similar youth groups live, pose and appropriate space for themselves. To a certain extent New Crew means "new generation", because for Paul Kranzler the boys and girls are the "New Inheritors of the Earth". The shoot location doesn't play a pre-eminent role in a globalised youth culture - the protagonists in the Upper Austrian province use the same stylistic means in presenting themselves. Their identity and loyalties are like those of their peers in the big cities of the UK and the USA.
