Per Mølgaard, At tabe det hele og bære det med sig, 2011, 180 x 130 cm | | |
To mark the occation of the publication of Per Mølgaard's new monograph, we would like to invite you Tuesday 31 May 5.00 -7.00 pm to join us in the gallery, where we simutaneously will open the exhibition Love Letters displaying new works by Per Mølgaard. The book has been made possible through the generous support of Montana and The Danish Arts Council and published by Hurricane Publishing. Texts by Kaspar Bonnén, Inger-Marie Hahn Møller and a poem by Søren Ulrik Thomsen.
Per Mølgaard (b.1969) works with a multitude of techniques and art historical references, which in varying degree manifests itself in the works - from the romantic tradition and nature painting to more formal and compositional investigations; from the hushed interiors of Hammershøi to the abstract expressionism of for example Jackson Pollocks action painting; from the delicate pencil drawings and fine nuances of Agnes Martin or Cy Twombly, to the heavy Nordic tradition of thick applications of oil paint and expressive brushstrokes; from the simple centred composition to the complex cut & paste-like juxtaposition drawing upon the tradition of collage.
Along side the exhibition Love Letters, works by Jesper Rasmussen, Daido Moriyama, Pernille With Madsen and Morten Schelde will be on display. |
