You have to twist your mind to get the paintings of Iranian Artist Alireza Massoumi. A grey urban jungle collides with a turquoise sky: colours so crisp that the contrast is stronger than black and white. Currently residing in London the painter is developing a strategy that goes beyond Guston's approach, yet appreciates the content and form in a subtle manner. Each Painting is like a cartoon, a frame inside a frame: a letter from a postglobalized world. The stories are narrated within a complex symbolic setting, but still remain innocent at the same time. This poetic vision brings us nothing but hope – and this is what really counts finally. |
