The event will be opened at The Centre of Contemporary Art DOX where the largest selection of individual photographers, galleries, and institutions dealing with photography will be presented.
The original photographs of almost 200 photographers will be shown along with the original photo collections of companies like Czech Centre of Photography (České centrum fotografie), Association of Professional Photographers of CR (Asociace profesionálních fotografů ČR), PHP – Foto Forum, PPF Art, Galerie Montanelli, Galerie Gambit, The Chemistry Gallery, Galerie Millennium, and others.
Massive space will again be given to universities that are educating new generations of photographers (FAMU, Slezska univerzita in Opava, University of West Bohemia, Jan Evangelista Purkyne University in Usti nad Labem). There will also be photos taken by high school students specializing in photography.
As in previous years, this year's festival includes a rich collection of accompanying programs, including meetings with authors, round table discussions and workshops.
This year’s PRAGUE PHOTO FESTIVAL will also bring the presentations of curators' projects throughout May in 12 selected galleries, museums, and exhibition halls (Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, Galerie Rudolfinum, Artinbox Gallery, Josef Sudek Gallery, Galerie Fotografic, Fotograf, and others).
Every year the professional jury of the Prague Photo Festival presents a young photographer (under 35 years of age) a UniCredit Bank Young Prague Photo Award. The laureates of this award have experienced increased interest in their work and have received interesting opportunities on the international scene.
The PRAGUE PHOTO FESTIVAL has been met with a great response from photographers who welcome and expect such events, which are common in most culturally developed cities worldwide. The ever growing interest of the public, as well as professionals and media give the organizers and the exhibitors satisfaction and motivation for the years to come.
They feel that through this event the cultural image of Prague is enhanced; that it has become a city offering a major photo exhibition within the international framework.
