Richard Lindner, Hit, 1971, from "Fun City", Lithographie, 63,9 x 50,5 cm
Our current exhibition is dedicated to the graphic work of the German born artist Richard Lindner (1901-1978). His artworks are charcterized by colour contrasts and an eye-catching depiction as well as by his early steering towards the figurative painting. So he is placed in art history as a precursor of the Pop Art.
Lindner grew up in Nuremberg and emigrated to the USA in 1941. From 1950 on he started to paint and he created an impressing graphic work which is well documented in the collection of Bode Gallery. The exhibition showcases artworks out of the portfolios "Afternoon" (1970) and "Fun City" (1971) as well as singular works.
