The third edition of ROMA, the Road to Contemporary Art, will be held in the heart of the Roman spring from the 27th to the 30th May, 2010. The new dates have been chosen by the organizers in accordance with the MAXXI and MACRO Museums because of the extraordinary eventuality of a joint opening. The synergy among the Fair and the two museums will built a great event dedicated to Contemporary Art which will make Rome become centre and destination of a wide international public.

New and single venue of this third edition will be the MACRO Testaccio; the fair will be set up in the two pavilions of MACRO Future and in the amazing and just restored Padiglione della Pelanda with its large basins and boilers. More than 8.000 sq. meters will host both the main section of the Fair and Start-up which is the section for the emerging galleries selected by a team of professional art advisors. The choice of a single venue allows the organizer to offer to all exhibitors best rates. The spaces of Testaccio will be open from 14.00 pm until midnight, enliven by meetings and side events which will make the fair be the meeting-place of a widespread public.

Great novelty of the edition, which will raise curiosity of the art lovers for its uniqueness, will be the “Accademie in Festa” (Academies' Feast): a project created through the partnership with the most important foreign Academies of Art and Cultural Institutes operating in Rome.On the Fair’s occasion, Academies and Institutes will present in their venues, a selection of artists of their own country represented by the best national galleries: a downright trip along the “National Pavilions” of each country. Artists will be selected by national renowned curators in order to guarantee the highest quality of the works. The full exhibitions programme carried out by the Museums and the Academies and Institutes, will constitute the Visit Programme which, in the morning when the Fair is closed, will be dedicated to the International and Italian Collectors hosted in Rome and to the many professionals which will come to Rome on the occasion of the very important events happening during the Fair’s days.
As a crowing achievement of the cooperation with the Academies and Institutes there will be the second edition of the exhibition “Academy of the Academies”, curated by Shara Wasserman, which will show the works of artists-in-residence. This exhibition is meant to enhance the significant role that such institutions play in the Rome.It is also confirmed the third edition of the multi-year project “Cose mai viste” (Things you never saw), curated by Achille Bonito Oliva which focuses on collecting. This year the exhibition will show the works of Foundations and Private Collectors.ROMA 2010: a full of novelties edition, open more than ever to international contaminations and with the will of renewal and experimentation.

The event is promoted and organized with the cooperation of the Culture Department of the Municipality of Rome.
