212GALLERY is pleased to present 'Gumball' by the California based artist, Scott Patt.
'Gumball' is a beautifully curated collection of Patt's iconic symbols, sayings, and objects that embody new meanings, modes, and issues from the intimate to the global, to the ironic and optimistic. Scott Patt's work is in tribute to American optimism, the vibrant hues of memory, and the unabashed gloss of youth. His Good Luck series exposes traditional symbols of fate and fortune into modern talismans of sacrifice and hope; Wormholes documents the troubled yet humorous relationships between space and time; Stays Crunchy in Milk and Weapons of Mass Production explode with striking form, combining the modern and nostalgic.
Scott Patt is an artist influenced by the big pitch, by the aesthetics of communication and its multivalent layers in our physical environments - urban and rural. Born in Allentown, PA, Scott is inspired by the art of the Pennsylvania Dutch and post pop consumerism with its primary colors and promises of a healthier tomorrow. His paintings and installations have been shown worldwide - from Japan and Amsterdam to Portland and New York; in spaces ranging from museums to alternative storefronts. He's been a body builder, missionary surfer, strip club sketch artist and creative director of Nike. Scott currently lives and works in Southern California.
