Stuart Buchanan graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1992 and following a period of travel in Egypt and Chile set up his first studio in Edinburgh in 1993 before moving back to Glasgow in 1997.

Stuart now paints full time from his Merchant City studio and has exhibited regularly in Scotland, London, New York and T'blisi (Georgia). He hopes to use his time in Catterline* to paint new figurative and landscape work for his forthcoming solo exhibitions at Mansfield Park Gallery in Glasgow and the Modern Artists Gallery Berkshire. The Glasgow exhibition will form part of the Visual Arts programme of the West End Festival in Glasgow.

*During January 2004 Stuart undertook a painting residency at the historic Watch House Cottage in Catterline, near Stonehaven.
