July 5, the Review Room of Vartai Gallery will introduce the latest Vidmina Stasiulytė’s installation Homo (2012) and her video with the same title created in collaboration with Šarūnas Akelaitis, Zbignevas Bartosevičius and Antanas Dombrovskis (2011) documenting the artist's concept of the genome of the Universe. In both works, the Homo expresses the subjective assessment of globalisation and at the same time works as a metaphor embodying the ambitions of the humankind to conquer and destroy.
Vidmina Stasiulytė (born 1984) is a young artist who has graduated last year from Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Bachelor's Degree in costume design. However, with her creative flight, uniqueness and implemented artistic projects, she can hardly be categorised as a designer. Her influences include the Universe, the phenomenon of coming and going, and the evolution of a human being. |
