"Whattaya do next?"

Photographs by James Seckington (USA)

This is the debut exhibition of the the long-time HB resident, visualizing a nostalgic reflection about the town he called home.

"Whattaya do next?" asks Kerouac's narrator of his friend, Irwin, the fictionalized poet, Allen Ginsberg. It is a discussion between the two friends that Kerouac returns to again and again in his work. It is a question that straddles the worlds of art, politics, and spirit. At its root, it is a question of liberation.

"My images attempt to capture something of the city's past, a particular vibe, an aesthetic, the unique regional culture that once existed in this place. We knew it at as Old HB. It was a place where one might answer Kerouac's question, "Whattya do next?" with a guffaw and a sip from a can of Bud on the pier as one waited patiently for the tide to turn."

Reception for the artist: Saturday July 18, 4-6PM
