In its 82 square meters exhibition space, ADN Galeria will present in ARCOmadrid 2012 (15-19 of February) the work of seven artists: Carlos Aires Spain, 1974), Democracia (Pablo España and Iván López, Spain, 1970), Daniel Geo Fuchs Germany, 1966, 1969), Kendell Geers (South Africa, 1968), Adrian Melis (Cuba, 1985), Eugenio Merino (Spain, 1975) and Bruno Peinado (France, 1970). As an attempt to articulate a reflection on the concepts of nation-state, ideology and sense of belonging, this exhibition draws up a transgenerational and methodological path and proposes a series of conceptual solutions that pretend to be critical and ironical. It attempts at provoking a reaction into the spectator and offering a communicative approach between art and society. Political and social history in its multiple readings, folkloric features and cultural values are convoked in the exhibited works and create a consistent specter in which the figure of the artist critically faces key questions of our times: the legacy of dictatorships, the lies and failures of political and religious ideologies, the restrictions imposed on certain customs and beliefs. The selection of artists and works puts into relief the artist in his or her role of acute observer of his/her time, far from the self-referentiality permeating part of the contemporary artistic production. We hope to see you at the fair! Meanwhile, don’t hesitate to contact us for any information. ARCOmadrid 2012 information as pdf-File ADN Galeria c/ Enrique Granados, 49 SP-08008 Barcelona T.
