Andersen's Copenhagen

Private Gallery

Two Anselm Reyle solo exhibitions in Copenhagen

Reyle is currently showing new works both at Andersen's Contemporary and at ARKEN Museum of Modern Art.

Show at Andersen's Contemporary - through August 27th 2011:

Andersen's Contemporary presents 13 recent works - some of them showing new materials and different media that have rarely or never been exhibited before. These works include "neon foils", where Reyle's well-known foils are combined with neon leftovers; a porcelain sculpture produced by the famous German porcelain manufacturer Meissen; abstract 'paintings by numbers'; and lastly a trash design sofa from the 80'es upholsted with new fabrics, and in this way transformed into an object reminiscent of three-dimensional color field painting.

Show at ARKEN Museum of Modern Art - through August 14th 2011:

For his first museum show in Denmark Anselm Reyle has filled ARKEN with paintings of crumbled, shiny foil and runny colours behind plexiglass, all manner of scrap mounted on canvas, painted over and hung on the wall, old wagon wheels covered in fluorescent paint and clusters of glowing neon tubes. The individual art works are integrated into a total installation extending through all the exhibition rooms like an abandoned, destroyed place of electronic scrap, bulky waste and neon which becomes revitalized through lights. The exhibition brings together new and older work, while the largest piece will be created on site. The exhibition presents a total of 22 works - including painting, sculpture and collage, plus a neon installation made on site for ARKEN.
