Art Gent

Art Fair

Art Gent

This year marks the very first edition of the Art Gent art trade fair. Art Gent has four divisions:
Lineart, Young and the brand new Vintage+Design and B.Art zones.

With its four distinct zones, the new top-quality Art Gent trade fair offers visitors a unique art experience. Director Christoph Ruys will be working to ensure both the quality and the complementary aspects of the four zones, each of which has its own particular atmosphere.

The Lineart zone encompasses Belgian and international visual art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Young visitors will discover a wide range of art, and collectors of classic work will find museum-worthy pieces. Galleries will show off their best artists plus a selection of top names from the 20th century, with a focus on the moderns and on photography.

The Young zone brings together Belgian and international art
that demonstrates the vision, daring and ambition of the 21st century. This zone illuminates innovation and allows visitors to discover the established values of tomorrow. Rick Vercauteren, the director of Museum van Bommen van Dam in Venlo, will spotlight Dutch work and Francis Feidler, director of the ikob in Eupen, will curate the ‘gigacase’.

Vintage+Design showcases 20th century vintage and 21st century design. These are a way of life today more than ever, and with a reference list of a thousand 20th- century international designers, this zone is provides the perfect instructions for living. Visitors will find the reliable quality and authenticity of the 20th century alongside innovative and unusual creative artistic objects for the
home that represent 21st century quality. After all, today’s design is tomorrow’s vintage.

Finally, B.Art fills its space with work that is 100% Belgian. This brand-new zone is the first of its kind in the world of trade fairs. It is organized around individual artists, each with a 25m 2 solo stand, and each represented by a gallery, art dealer or patron. Work by Belgian artists and artists living in Belgium, from the period 1900-present, is leading.

Fair director Christoph Ruys will receive support from an advisory council consisting of Flor Bex, Lieven Daenens, Philippe van Cauteren, Willy Van den Bussche, Johan Swinnen,
Willem Elias, Rick Vercauteren, Paule De Boeck and Francis Feidler.

Art Gent represents more than 15 countries and will host 1,000 artists on 19,000m2 of floor space.

Art Gent will take place from 30 November 2012 until 4 December 2012 in the Flanders Expo in Gent.
