Pages #9 "Seep" & Fillip #18
Since 2004, the artists Nasrin Tabatabai and Babak Afrassiabi have been publishing a bilingual, English and Farsi magazine called Pages. The new issue titled "Seep" was produced in cooperation with Badischer Kunstverein and in relation to their exhibition "Two Archives", which was presented at the Kunstverein's atrium in 2011.
Pages #9 addresses aspects of post-archiving that regard geography, history through seepage, suspension and substraction. Contributors to this issue are: Mariam Motamedi Fraser, Mark von Schlegell, Nima Parzham, Natasha Ginwala, Vivian Ziherl, Matts Leiderstam, Adam Kleinman, Suzanne Treister, Alexi Kukuljevic, Eugene Thacker and Saleh Najafi.
Nasrin Tabatabai and Babak Afrassiabi will present Pages #9 and talk about some of the themes and issues explored in different contributions.
We also welcome the Canadian magazine Fillip and its publisher Jeff Khonsary, who will present edition #18. In this issue, Kate Steinmann continues her series examining the links between biopolitics and photography with a text by Martha Langford on Vladimir Putin's use of staged official state photography and Ahmad Hosni on the role of Facebook within the Egyptian revolution of January 2011.
Fillip #18 also features a special section on art and labour guest edited by Gabrielle Moser. The publication considers itself as a platform for critical discourse in relation to art and society.
The event will be in English
