BAK offers a guided tour on the first Sunday of each month during the exhibition How Much Fascism? (29.09.-23.12.2012). This introduction tour in Dutch highlights so-called "silent fascism": the fascism that we hardly seem to notice and that is becoming normalized through the systematic violence seeping into the laws and everyday administration practices of nation-states. From BAK's viewpoint art is an excellent means to achieve the necessary awareness of the world in which we live. Throughout the tour the critical content of the artworks is discussed alongside the approaches and interpretations of curatorial collective What, How & for Whom/WHW as well as the placement of the exhibition within the broader FORMER WEST discourse. Please join us on 2 December at 15.00 hrs, for the tour of approximately 60 minutes that introduces the exhibition and the central themes at BAK; more in-depth tours are available by appointment. When visiting the exhibition the tour is free of charge. Reservations for the guided tours can be made by sending an e-mail to: info@bak-utrecht.nl. New Chairman of the Board: Gitta Luiten BAK is pleased to announce that Gitta Luiten has become the new chairman of the board of Stichting BAK, basis voor actuele kunst. Luiten is currently working as interim director at Premsela. From 2001 to 2011, she was director of the Mondriaan Foundation, which has since united with Fonds BKVB to become Mondriaan Fund, and in that role she has shown a strong interest in unconventional projects and social discussions on the role of art and art institutions. This approach, coupled with her expertise and experience indicates that she will be a very suitable chairman for BAK. In addition, BAK is especially honored by her decision to take on this responsibility amid such difficult and challenging times. She takes over the position from Annelies van der Horst, who over the years led the board with much dedication and provided significant expertise, playing a key role in guiding the organization as it developed into an art institution that operates internationally and with a strong social commitment.
