ROHKUNSTBAU XVII ATLANTIS II - Hidden Histories - Imagined Identities Opening: Sunday, 4 July 2010 Exhibition: 9 July - 12 September 2010 Venue: Schloss Marquardt, Potsdam, Germany In 2010, Plato's myth of Atlantis once again offers the basis for the Rohkunstbau exhibition. In the fictive political dialogues ‚Timaios' and ‚Kritias', Plato builds on a variety of models to discuss the existence of an ideal state. Inspired by Plato's ideas, the 2009 Rohkunstbau took the ‚demos' concept as a theme to investigate egalitarian state models, while this year's exhibition focuses on the ‚aristos' elitist system. In ATLANTIS II, ten artists from six countries critically engage with the identities and histories of different state types. Through their works, created especially for Rohkunstbau, they allow the beholder to share their imaginative vision of extinct or utopian forms of state and rule. Sean Dawson's work has been exhibited at the Prague Triennial and Museum Essl in Vienna amongst others. Starting 10 September 2010 Buchmann Galerie will open the exhibition Dark Wave Forms with new works by Sean Dawson. We will gladly provide you with further information on the artist or visual material upon request. press@buchmanngalerie.com BUCHMANN GALERIE BERLIN Charlottenstrasse 13 D - 10969 Berlin T. +49-30-258 999 29 F. +49-30-258 999 39 info@buchmanngalerie.com www.buchmanngalerie.com Tue - Sat 11am - 6pm Image: Sean Dawson Hyper Cluster, 2010 oil on linen 183 x 275 cm | |||
