"It's an ocean, not a puddle from which to drink once"
28 November | 1 pm | 5 pm
Duration: 45 minutes
Location: CAM Main Hall
Isabel Carvalho (Porto, 1977) has been carrying out work that fuses several artistic areas, among which editing and publishing books and managing the exhibition venue Navio Vazio (Porto) have taken precedence in recent years. In her works, the artist establishes relationships between art, literature, economics, politics, sexuality and contemporary artistic practices. She is presently undertaking a residence at Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin), where she presented the exhibition 'Os cantores dos planaltos combinam linguagens' ['Plateau singers merge languages together].
The starting point chosen by Isabel Carvalho for "It's an ocean, not a puddle from which to drink once" is Ana Hatherly's series of drawings entitled 'Metamorfoses da Romã' [Pomegranate Metamorphoses], which belongs to the CAM collection. From these works, she proposes an extended reading of a text that narrates the experience of the renewed acceptance of the "Mysteries".
A sound and image recording will be made during the performance.
