Congratulations to gallery artist Nathaniel Rogers whose painting of Barack Obama and his daughters is featured by Washingtonian Magazine in their January Inaugural edition.
The oil on panel painting is a new take on the famous 1963 Stanley Tretick photograph of John F Kennedy, Jr. playing under his father's Oval Office desk. In signature Rogers style, playful additions to the image has been made ... a dog toy in the foreground (will it be a Labrapoodle?) ... a Viking drinking horn holding up copious amounts of paper ....
The Rogers painting will be on view at the gallery Friday and Saturday, January 16 + 17 as well as Wednesday, January 21st at the gallery. Hours are 11am-5pm each day.
Nathaniel Rogers will have a solo exhibition at Conner Contemporary in June 2009.
