Uta Eisenreich is fascinated by the attempt to establish order within an inconsistent reality that constantly exceeds the borders of comprehension. Her most recent photographic work focuses on the shortcomings of our cognitive tool-kit. A NOT B walks us along the fine line between common sense and uncommon nonsense in a realm reminiscent of pre-school books, assessment tests and optical illusions. Her new book by ROMA publishers A NOT B will be presented at the Art Amsterdam.

"When I look out the window of the car I see the sun lighting up the clouds, one bright white straight stripe sticks up from behind an apartment building, as if to say, 'here I am and here I go, and nothing will stop me.'" In her work Evi Vingerling investigates what influence the forms and colors of the things around us have on our feelings. Her wall paintings call to mind objects of everyday life, but we are uncertain of our associations. The painting remains a flat plane and what is depicted turns into an autonomous image.
