|Estampa Arte Multiple 20th Anniversary|
||On our twentieth birthday, the fair continues to be intent on stimulating our market by means of new sections and commitments with institutions, collectors, researchers, publics and communications media. This year, it is with the firm collaboration of Matadero Madrid, who welcomes us in their bays and spaces, in order to progress together in the social projection of contemporary creation and the collecting of present day art.|
With the opening to new publics and young collectors, the interest of the fair continues to work on the extension of the concept of multiple art beyond conventional editions, taking into account supports, concepts, processes and disciplines: photography, video, books, comics, graphic work, sound or design. So, the involvement of different professional and social sectors in the fair has the aim of generating a large market and debating forum regarding the knowledge and collection of contemporary art in its broadest sense.
José Manuel Ballester is the guest artist and the one who created the image of the fair with an impressive photograph taken in 2010 in the Opera Garnier of Paris. In it, our National Photography Prize-winner for 2010 shows the structure of light and space, gathered in the place where literature, music and stage performances are all brought together in one of the most important opera houses in the world.
This year photography will have a special emphasis in Estampa Arte Múltiple 2012 with the participation of numerous artists dedicated to photography and a project curated by the critic and writer Sema D´Acosta who will be examining the state of present day photography in our country.
It moves! With this title we open a section intended to show the latest in video animation in Spain. Curated by Gonzalo Cordero and with the collaboration of the ABC Museum of drawing and illustration and Canal + Xtra which collaborated with programmes and editions, we launch this offering which selects the best Spanish galleries with artists dedicated to the genre.
International Video in the Matadero Madrid Film Library
Moreover and as part of the fair’s VIP programme, curator Angie Bonino gathers together a sample of 12 of the best collections of international video art with the title Transitopias and collections from DAROS (Zurich - Switzerland), Teresa Sapey Collection (Spain - Madrid), Amister de Sisita Soldevila (Barcelona - Spain), Alicica Aza Collection (Madrid - Spain), Odour Visual Collection of Ernesto Ventos (Barcelona – Spain), the Estefanía Meana Collection (Madrid - Spain), ART NEXUS from Celia Birbraguer (USA, Miami – Colombia, Bogotá), the World Wide Video Collection from Tom Van Vliet (Amsterdam - Holland), Homesessions Collection (Paris – France) and the Los Bragales Collection from Jaime Sordo (Cantabria - Spain), among others.
Sound In in the Music Bays
Following last year’s success, Sound In returns to offer us a space dedicated to the world of sound art and experimental music, under the care of Miguel Álvarez-Fernández, curator, sound artist and director of Ars Sonora in RNE’s Radio Clásica, who, together with Anne-Françoise Raskin, offers us a means for getting closer to publishers and distributors of art with sound in Spain, all brought together in the Matadero Madrid Music Bay with the collaboration of Red Bull.
Estampa Design Partners in the Design Centre
A section which began last year as a space dedicated to showing the work of the best design studios in Spain, Estampa Design Partners continues to advance with the curation of Marta Salas, a specialist in this field of creation, so close in many aspects to contemporary art and to its production in limited editions. This year, thanks to the collaboration of DIMAD, the Asociación de Diseñadores de Madrid, the stands are going to be organised in the Design Centre, the space for designers in the Matadero.
Our section on artists’ books, Book in, is renovated in order to allow in some fresh air: illustrators, the world of comics, the book-object, visual poetry, artist’s magazines, textual experimentation and all the creativity that has been poured into the classical medium for reading, written with images, space and ideas, in a selection curated by Carolina Diaz Collado.
Print Shop Edition Is a new section of the fair created in order to provide an orderly and coherent display of the latest offerings from international publishers and workshops. In it, the new paths of experimental printing and the tradition of contemporary print will be introduced.
VIP Programmes for collectors and professionals, activities for kids, the Multiple Art collectors and conservation forums, presentations of books, concerts, parties and more activities we will be announced as they arise through our social networks and our website.
