|Now representing: Tomas Saraceno (22.1.2013)|
||We are pleased to announce that we are now representing TOMAS SARACENO.|
Originally trained as an architect, Saraceno's experimental practice expands the conventions of art, architecture, and science and their capacities to envision alternate ways of being and inhabiting the world.
'Tomás Saraceno's installations, sculptures, photo and video works defy traditional notions of space, time, gravity, consciousness and perception through architectural, social and communitarian means that are utopian and participatory in nature.
The sky and the earth are interchangeable in his installations, in which gardens float and people achieve their longstanding desire to fly. Inspired by an interest in affecting change in the way we live and experience reality, each work is an invitation to conceive of alternative ways of knowing, feeling and interacting with others. Concurrently, Saraceno appeals to the creative faculty of his viewers, involving them in situations and actions that demand their ingenuity, participation and responsibility.
The projects evidence relationships and introduce interdependent spaces that emphasize the ecological character of not only natural environments but also social spaces.'
Recent exhibitions include Cloud City, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2012); Cloud Cities, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin (2011-2012) and 14 Billion, Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm (2010).
His first solo exhibition with ESTHER SCHIPPER will be in March 2013.
