  Fundação Bienal de São Paulo announces list of participating artists for the 28th Bienal de São Paulo "in living contact"

Residency program has six artists working in São Paulo and four interdisciplinary projects will integrate the exhibition program.

Fundação Bienal de São Paulo announces the list of participating artists for the 28th Bienal de São Paulo "in living contact". The curators Ivo Mesquita and Ana Paula Cohen have invited 40 artists from 20 different nationalities for the exhibition that will take place from October 26th to December 06th, 2008.

Among the list of invited artists for the 28th Bienal de São Paulo, 27 artists are developing works for the exhibition: Alexander Pilis, Ângela Ferreira, Armin Linke, assume vivid astro focus, Carla Zaccagnini, Carlos Navarrete, Carsten Höller, Dora Longo Bahia, Erick Beltrán, Fischerspooner, Gabriel Sierra, Goldin+Senneby, Iran do Espírito Santo, Javier Peñafiel, João Modé, Leya Mira Brander, Mabe Bethônico, Maurício Ianês, Mircea Cantor, Nicolás Robbio, O Grivo, Paul Ramirez Jonas, Rivane Neuenschwander, Rodrigo Bueno, Rubens Mano, Sarnath Banerjee and Valeska Soares.

Special Projects

Curators Ivo Mesquita and Ana Paula Cohen have invited four different interdisciplinary projects to integrate the program of the 28th Bienal de São Paulo:
1 - "Archivo Abierto" - Centro de Documentación de las Artes, Centro Cultural Palacio la Moneda (Santiago, Chile)
2 - CINEMA CAPACETE (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
3 - Ivaldo Bertazzo (São Paulo, Brazil)
4 - Weightless Days (Ângela Detanico & Rafael Lain [Brazil], Megumi Matsumoto & Takeshi Yazaki [Japan], Dennis McNulty [Ireland]).

Residency Program

The 28th Bienal de São Paulo has invited six artists to participate in the international residency program developed by Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado - FAAP at the Edifício Lutetia. They are: Erick Beltrán (Mexico), Gabriel Sierra (Colombia), Goldin+Senneby (Sweden), Javier Peñafiel (Spain) and Sarnath Banerjee (India). As a result of this cooperation between FAAP and Fundação Bienal de São Paulo, these artists will present a lecture about their respective projects and develop activities with the students of FAAP´s Art School. Further information on the residency projects will be released in due time.

Video Lounge

The artist Wagner Morales will be the assistant curator in charge of the selection of videos and films that will be exhibited at the 28th Bienal de São Paulo Video Lounge. The lounge will be organized in four "exhibition cells" - specially designed and built spaces where the public will be able to follow the program - and also a video room inside the exhibition's library. During the six weeks of the event, specific series of films and videos will also be screened at the auditorium located on the 3rd floor.
