|Marcel Wanders, Launch Of New Sculpture 'snotty Valentine' (31.1.2014)|
The gallery is proud to announce the collaboration with Marcel Wanders on Snotty Valentine XL, a bronze sculpture in an edition of 8, produced in conjunction with his solo show Marcel Wanders: ‘Pinned up’ - 25 Years of Design at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
The sculpture will be exclusively available at the gallery from 1st of February.
Snotty Valentine XL is a special edition of Influenza, one of the Airborne Snotty Vases, which was created in 2001. The design is based on a 3D scan of airborne mucus and finally produced using a digital prototyping technology. The Snotty Vases were first introduced by Cappellini in Milan in 2001.
About Snotty Valentine XL:
With the addition of a fresh flower, this frozen in time mucus fossil creates its own eternal presence. In the ultimate battle against death Marcel Wanders creates eternal signs of life, projecting fossils of life breath leaning up with eternal evergreen flowers - the dream of eternity in our timely existence.
Snotty Valentine XL bronze is part of the Marcel Wanders’ Personal Collection.
NB.: More detailed way of describing the Airborne Snotty’s: A series of five digitally prototyped vases formed from three-dimensional scans of microscopic specks of airborne mucus generated by a sufferer of a sinus cavity illness or disease: Sinusitis, Pollinosis, Influenza, Ozaena and Coryza.
