|Robert Lebeck - A tribute to a brilliant photojournalist. (3.7.2014)|
|Dear Friends of Bode Gallery,|
The donated Kodak Retina-1a camera was the initiator for the legendary career as a photo reporter of Robert Lebeck. Born in Berlin in 1929 Lebeck became one of the most ingenious photo reporter in Europe because he was able to combine investigative skill with aesthetic perception. After his work for the German magazines Revue and Kristall his photographies were published from the sixties on in Stern and Geo. In the course of his lifetime Lebeck has taken passionate shots of people in Europe, South America and South Africa as well as of the most famous actors and musicians, the most powerful politicians or monarchs of his day. In 2007 Robert Lebeck was awarded with the Henri-Nannen-Preis.
In 2008 and in 2009 we had shown his works in the exhibitions "Photographie" and "Musik im Blut". We deeply regret that Robert Lebeck passed away last Saturday.
