The Mark Müller gallery was founded in 1990. It followed ever since a specific, clear and continuous program with national and international positions regularly shown over a concentrated period of time in the gallery premises. It represents artists from Switzerland, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. Next to supporting the already established artists, the gallery also attaches importance to the build-up and establishment of young artists from Switzerland and from abroad.
The works of the artists focus on the abstract, conceptual and radical areas of contemporary painting, drawing and sculpture, some positions specifically focussing on and exploring the tension-filled territory of the different approaches and techniques. The exhibition-space sometimes transforms into a pure installation-room:
walls are being painted onto directly, polished, or sprayed, holes are drilled into the floor and the given architecture of the space gets integrated into the artwork as starting- or as pivotal point.
In addition, the gallery also invites since a few years young artists (who are not in the gallery program) to show their works in the so-called guestroom, parallel to the exhibitions in the main rooms.
The gallery also aims at an international presence of their artists by participating in different art fairs since 1993: Art Basel (yearly since 1993), Art Cologne, Artforum Berlin, FIAC Paris, Art Chicago, ARCO Madrid (yearly since 2003), Fine Artfair Frankfurt (since 2006), KIAF and SH Contemporary. |
